Common Questions

How do I book?

To book a shooting experience, simply visit our website, select your preferred date and time, and complete the online booking form. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email with all the details. Alternatively, please call 0787 160 0612 and we can book you in over the phone.

What safety measures are in place?

Your safety is our top priority. We ensure all participants are briefed on safety procedures, provide protective hearing, protective glasses and headwear, and have qualified instructors on site to guide you step by step through the experience.

What is the minimum age to shoot at Shotwick Clay Shoot?

We allow children from 10+ years to shoot with us, with a parent or guardian present at all times.

What are 'have a go' clays?

Our 'have a go' clays offer the opportunity to try clay pigeon shooting, perhaps for the first time. The lesson consists of 30 clay targets and cartridges (cartridges included). The instructor will work one-to-one with each person, and present various types of targets.

We take care of groups of 10 ppl. min. (10 per instructor) and we can look after up to 20 in a group (2 instructors). The instructor will give a H&S briefing, then we head out to the stands to shoot.

Ear protection, eye protection and headwear are provided.

We can provide catering on these days if required, for an additional cost.

What is simulated game?

Simulated game replicates the flight patterns of various game birds, but clays are used instead. Clay traps fire the clays at different angles and trajectories. We have set up stands and traps to provide a realistic and exciting shooting experience.

We do not provide cartridges for simulated game days, but can provide them at an extra cost.

Do you cater for group events?

Yes we do.  Our clay pigeon shooting experiences are perfect for corporate team building, corporate events, and celebrations such as birthdays, hen and stag dos. Contact us to customize an event package for your group.

What should I wear on the day?

Depending on the weather, we recommend that you wear comfortable and warm clothing. Wellies and waterproof clothing should be worn when the weather is wet. Hearing protection, eye protection and headwear will be provided on the 'have a go' clay days.

On simulated game days, we recommend that guests wear wellington boots (the estate can get muddy in places), bring waterproof clothing as the weather can change rapidly over the day. Please bring your own ear & eye protection (although we will have these available) and wear a hat as broken clays may fall over the line of guns.

Are there WCs on site?

Yes, there are 2 WCs at each shoot lodge (located at Wirral Shoot & Altcar Estate).
